The short version
Litix is built for people working on real criminal cases, so it is designed to know as little as possible. There are no accounts. Your calculation inputs stay in your browser. Uploaded documents are processed entirely on your device and are never transmitted. Usage statistics are collected only if you allow them, and they never include anything about a case.
Calculations
Everything you enter into the calculator — guideline selections, drug quantities, adjustments, criminal history points, and the resulting ranges — is processed in your browser's memory. It is not sent to or stored on our servers, and it is discarded when you close or reload the page.
Uploaded documents
Document analysis (PDF text extraction and OCR) runs entirely on your device. Your documents never leave your browser. One caveat: the optical-character-recognition language file is fetched from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr) the first time OCR runs — that request downloads a dictionary file to your device and carries none of your document's content.
Usage statistics (optional)
With your consent, we use Google Analytics for Firebase to count coarse product events: pages viewed, features used (for example, "search performed" or "calculation completed"), and the guideline section a page belongs to. We never record search terms, offense levels, adjustments, criminal history information, sentence ranges, or anything extracted from a document.
Being straight about the rest: Google Analytics is not anonymous. If you allow it, Google's script also collects, on its own, information we do not choose event by event — a persistent pseudonymous identifier for your browser (stored in a first-party _ga cookie), your approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser characteristics such as screen size, language and user agent, and the address of the page you are on and the page you arrived from. Those addresses are the one part of that list that could otherwise carry something case-related, so we constrain them. Litix never puts a search term, anything read out of an uploaded document, or any calculation input into a web address: when one screen needs to tell another which section you picked, it passes it in memory rather than through the address bar. And the address reported to Google is trimmed to the site and page path, with any query string or fragment removed. The page path does identify the guideline section you are reading (for example /calculator/2B1.1) — that is the same "which section" information described above, and nothing more. The automatic page-view event Google's script would otherwise send the moment it loads is switched off as well.
Unless and until you allow analytics, the analytics feature is never initialized: no script is loaded from Google, no cookie is set, and no device or installation identifier is created or registered. If you decline (or simply make no choice), nothing analytics-related runs at all. Your choice itself is remembered in this browser's local storage under the key litix-analytics-consent — that value stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. You can change your choice below.

What this site is not
Litix is legal information, not legal advice, and creates no attorney-client relationship. What it produces is an advisory guideline range: a court must calculate and consider it, but is not bound by it and may impose a sentence above or below it under 18 U.S.C. § 3553(a). Consult a federal criminal defense attorney before relying on anything here.
Litix implements the November 1, 2025 Guidelines Manual (through Amendment 836). A later Manual has been promulgated — the 2026 Guidelines Manual takes effect on November 1, 2026. A federal court applies the Guidelines Manual in effect on the date of sentencing (§1B1.11(a)). Check every result against the Manual published by the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
